Hi! I’m Alex, a Chicagoland native who moved to Los Angeles in 2012 with the dream of the writing for the publications I grew up reading. I got my start at Variety, where I served as Senior News Editor for eight years. There, I got a crash course in the business of entertainment, as well as the hustle and bustle of covering breaking news and leading news coverage on major events like the Academy Awards. I also served as the outlet’s primary gaming reporter for my last couple of years there, single-handedly covering the industry with business-oriented stories as well as interviews and previews. All of that was in addition to handling the digital rollouts of Variety’s major magazine packages like Actors on Actors and Power of Women, optimizing stories made for print for a digital landscape. (You could say I wore a lot of hats and you’d be right.)

I moved to IGN in 2021, where I first served as Entertainment Reviews Editor. I oversaw all of IGN’s film and television reviews, recruiting, maintaining, and editing a team of award-winning freelancers, along with reviewing some of the bigger movies and TV shows myself. That oversight included producing video versions of many reviews, which combined drew 35 million views to IGN’s YouTube channel. I was moved to the news team as our foremost entertainment industry expert, doing more original reporting in the film and TV sector than IGN has ever had. I also became a major on-camera presence for IGN, co-hosting the ongoing podcast Cinefix Top 100, conducting on-camera interviews at events like San Diego Comic-Con, hosting IGN’s studio at Star Wars Celebration 2023, and much more.
